For sixteen years Magersfontein has recorded who won, who lost and by how much. From 2026, the aim is to preserve how the matches actually unfolded — while making the Cup easier to follow while it is happening.
The small ask
We are not asking groups to enter strokes, Stableford points or statistics. After each completed hole, one person records just one thing: Sweden won, England won, or the hole was halved. Magers Live calculates the match position from there.
That small extra action creates a live picture for everyone on the course and a permanent record of the story behind each final score.

Future memoryKeep the story
A 3 & 2 result cannot tell you that somebody was three down after five, fought back to all square and then lost late. Hole-by-hole can.
The day in motionSee the swings
The data can later show each match — and the whole Cup — moving graphically toward Sweden, England and back again as the day develops.
How the record becomes official
Live first. Validated later.
1 · LIVE
The scorer records each hole. Corrections can be made while the match is still open.
2 · DECIDED
When the match is mathematically over — for example 3 UP with 2 to play — the scorer must confirm that the match has actually finished.
3 · LOCKED
After confirmation, normal scoring is closed. Any later correction becomes an administrator action rather than an ordinary scorer edit.
4 · VALIDATED
The hole-by-hole sequence is only used as permanent historical fact when its final result matches the official result entered in the Magersfontein spreadsheet.
The governing rule
The spreadsheet remains the official result record. Hole-by-hole data can drive live positions immediately, but we only use it for permanent stories, statistics and swing graphics after the derived final result agrees with the official match result.
