MF Handicap

The system makes history portable. Every result follows a player into the next match.

Each player begins with the official handicap used at their first Magersfontein Cup. After that, the Cup maintains its own handicap.

Win: MF handicap decreases by 1. Loss: it increases by 1. Draw: unchanged. The handicap is capped at 24 and the workbook logic also floors it at zero.

For an actual match, the player with the lowest MF handicap plays off zero. Everyone else receives the difference between their MF handicap and that lowest figure.

During a Cup, only completed matches feed the next match/day calculation. If an earlier result is unfinished, a dependent later handicap is provisional and must be marked as such.

Why it works

The past follows you to the first tee

The MF handicap is not trying to replace an official golf handicap. It is a Cup-specific balancing mechanism and a narrative device: success makes the next match harder, failure gives something back, and long-term performance becomes visible in the number a player carries from year to year.
